Pre-sales of Valve's zombie shooter Left 4 Dead (PC and Xbox 360) are outperforming those of the company's hit game collection The Orange Box by nearly twofold, according to the developer.
"Pre-orders are now running 95% over those of The Orange Box, and we're getting set to launch the pre-release demo and television campaign to further fuel this momentum," said Valve marketing VP Doug Lombardi in an official release.
The question now is: Will Left 4 Dead be the number 1 game of 2008?

"The question now is: Will Left 4 Dead be the number 1 game of 2008?"
That is not the question. Seriously, what are you smoking? Left 4 Dead is the No# 1 game for the year simply because Valve have had people playing it, ever since 07. They said it was f@#%ing great then, and its over a year later, surely it's only better. The question for me is, why is it out-doing orange box pre-orders? Orange box was the bomb, and that was known a year before it's release too. Game journalists surround hype which is a tragedy because 9 times out of 10 the game is a peice of s&!t. The great games are those that sit in the background because they dont waste time on advertisement until it's out and polished.
That's why Valve = Best game company ever (followed closely by infinity ward (known fact to people who matter)).
Think of all of the new people that got introduced to steam when orangebox came out. Thats probobly one reason the pre-orders are higher.
BEAT THAT ORANGEY
